Mummy MOT

A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-section deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. Your Mummy MOT practitioner will provide you with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery – and get you back on track with your fitness goals.

Whether your goals are to be able to carry the car seat comfortably, or be able to lift weights at the gym again, we can help! Mummy MOT’s are designed to adapt around your goals!

What does a Mummy MOT involve?

  • Detailed Discussion: Discuss questions and concerns, medical history and symptoms. We will also discuss what you’re expecting from a Mummy MOT.

  • Assessment: whole body assessment, looking at posture, and other areas, including areas such as spine, pelvis, abdomen.

  • Internal Vaginal Examination: if appropriate and with informed consent. It is used to assess pain, tightness of muscles, pelvic floor activation/relaxation.

  • Treatment: If appropriate, treatment of tight/tense muscles, often using massage and articulation techniques. A treatment plan will also be discussed, in order to help you achieve your goals.

  • Exercise Plan: Often exercises will be individually prescribed for you (they will be sent via Email so you can refer back to them easily) in order to help your symptoms.

Lizzie Hayes

Lizzie graduated with a Masters Degree in Osteopathy, with distinction. She has since completed a PGCert in Paediatric Osteopathy, which lead her to work with lots of parents to help their children. Talking in detail to parents, she noticed the gap in post-natal care within the NHS, for helping women return to daily activities and exercise confidently (even lifting car seats/buggies etc). Lizzie then took detailed training in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor rehabilitation, and also completed the Mummy MOT course.
